If she has a daughter, buy a small ring with a heart on it for her and ask for their “hands” in marriage. If she has a little boy, let him help with the ring box or tie the box around a teddy bear you buy for him so he feels included. You can also give the boy a small gold ring as a token of your unity as a family.
