Characteristics of a Cancer
Your sign is the crab which has long claws because you tend to hold on to things from your past. The crab has a protective outer shell and the Cancer uses their home for their protection and typically hold your own feelings behind these protective walls. Water is your element which symbolizes emotion. The water of Cancer is that of the changing tides. Creatures that live there are fed and nurtured by the regular rhythms of this tide. It is also about the appearance of a smooth surfaced lake. You can see no movement but beneath the surface lies much movement and hidden currents. Your key planet is the Moon which is always changing. As the key planet of Cancer, the Moon symbolizes our basic needs -- how we need to be nurtured and how we nurture others. A Cancer is a water sign. Water signs get along with fellow water signs, air signs and earth signs but should stay away from fire in general. A Cancer is pretty adaptable and can get along with most everyone. Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn, Gemini, Libra, Aquarius, Scorpio and Pisces are all good matches for the Cancer. However, they should stay away from Aries, Sagittarius and Leo. While those signs may be able to coexist it will take some compromise and a lot of understanding to make it work. Beware of conflict, though. When it gets rough with a fire sign, it will be not be pretty.
