Dating a Widower Connecting With Widows and Widowers

Life After Death

Anyone who has been in a marriage and lost their loved one to death can relate to how painful it can be.  A woman who has lost her husband goes through some powerful emotions and must deal with the grieving process.  In addition, the widow may also have some practical and financial issues that weigh heavily on her mind.  If you are a widow and are going through these issues, do not despair.  You will hurt for awhile and you may have some difficulty coping.  However, with time and effort, you can have fond memories of your time together and not be such a wreck.  You may even eventually be ready to love again.

The grief process is definitely a difficult thing to cope with.  Coupled with that is the sense that most people who are trying to support you like friends and family probably have no idea what you are going through as a widow.  It can be a terribly lonely time in your life and you may feel overwhelmingly depressed.  You need to take the time to grieve.  It is a natural process and while it hurts going through it, you will start to feel better eventually and will be able to get on with your life.

If there are practical and financial concerns that are worrying you, get some support from friends and family.  They can help you clear your head and plan accordingly.  You may need to deal with some legal issues and get finances in order.  You may need to adjust your budget accordingly to save some money if your husband was a primary income provider.  You may even need to think about getting a job to support yourself.  These issues are probably the last thing you want to think about.  However, the faster you get to them and start to create a good financial plan, the better off you will be.

Besides, when you have other things to occupy your time, you will have an easier time getting over your loss and won’t feel so bad.  Experiencing the death of a loved one is a difficult thing to go through and can be very traumatic.  Make sure you use the support system you have in place with your friends and family so they can help you through this difficult time.  It will get easier to cope with in time and eventually you will be able to lead a happy life and think back on the fond memories you had with your husband.
