Online Dating Issues in Our Modern World

Have you been without a date for awhile and want to get back into the swing of things?  Have you balked at joining a dating site for one reason or another?  If so, why not try it?  Online dating is commonly accepted nowadays and there’s nothing wrong with using the Internet as a tool to meet new people.  There have been some really successful relationships that started out online.  Yours could be the next one.  So take a deep breath and take the plunge.  Get on the computer, decide on a dating site and start writing your profile.

When dealing with online dating issues you want to be as honest as possible to get the best possible matches.  Sure, you want to put your best foot forward but if you use your high school yearbook photo when you are in your mid thirties that may be just a tad bit misrepresentative of how you look today.  Be honest about your relationship goals and your interests.  There’s no sense wasting time with someone looking for a serious relationship when you simply want a casual dating partner.

Once you have filled out your online profile, then sit back and watch the interested parties pour in.  Read each email you get and look at the profiles of the ones that strike you.  If you think you may be interested in pursuing something write back.  Don’t be afraid to keep the correspondence online for awhile to see if there is any online chemistry before you move it to the next level.  You can have some interesting discussions and use your email correspondence to weed out the ones you know won’t be suited to you.  This can save you a lot of time, money and frustration.

When it comes time to take the date to the real world, start off casually.  Always meet in a public place and until you get a feel for the other person, do not give out your home address.  There is plenty of time to move to that level but until then, you’ll be safer if you just meet somewhere for awhile.  Sometimes lunch dates or coffee dates are the best place to start.  You have a finite amount of time to spend together and there is not as much pressure to fill the void if things aren’t going well.  Remember that you can always have a second date…and a third and fourth, etc…if you so desire.  Online dating issues don't have to be a problem if you are smart about the choices you make.
