* Keeping the partner in vision – while living together, you are visible as a couple to everybody around you. Your families, friends, relatives, colleagues and neighbors see you as a couple rather than two individuals. This keeps you bound together and keeps the context of marriage alive. While staying separately and carrying a long distance relationship, it is the prerogative of each partner to keep the visibility of the missing spouse. Keep photographs of the both of you on your work desk, mention conversations to your friends and colleagues. Invite friends from work and neighbors over when visiting each other to keep you alive as a ‘couple’ to people around you at all times irrespective of whether you live together.
Unfortunately, absences do not iron out differences; once you are back again they resurface.
