Romance in a Marriage

When you've been in a marriage for awhile one of the first things to suffer might be the intimacy and romance between you and your loved one. Really make it count and do your homework and surprise your partner with some new ways to spark things up in your love life!

In a marriage there are a lot of issues that come into play in your daily lives.  You may have kids to deal with, you have your individual lives and work responsibilities, you have to deal with household chores and the family finances.  It can be enough to suck the romance out of any marriage.  But, you are also probably well that romance is an important aspect of a marriage.  It may take some effort to be romantic, especially after a few years and a few kids.  But, there are plenty of ways to bring romance back into a marriage and to sustain it through the years. 

Maintaining romance in a marriage should be undertaken every single day.  You should never put off being romantic with your spouse because of stress or time constraints.  It takes no time at all for a hug or a kiss or an “I love you”.  These types of things are important and should occur every day without fail.  You should never have your spouse thinking they are unappreciated or unloved.  So, tell them.  Often.  Also, be affectionate when you are around one another.  Touch each other, kiss and hug.  Make your spouse always feel loved and wanted.

Keeping romance alive in a marriage is similar to taking care of a car.  There are things you should do every single day to ensure your vehicle is running properly.  This is similar to the every day romantic gestures that should occur in a marriage.  However, there are also some larger maintenance issues that should be addressed from time to time.  Just as you should change your oil in the car every 3,000 miles, so should you do something a little grander in the romance department every once in awhile.  Take you sweetie out on a romantic date, write a love letter or poem, buy a gift, surprise them with something unexpected. 

If you have a good balance between the little every day things that should occur in a marriage and the occasional grander gestures, your marriage will be sound and will last a long time.  Just as your car will if maintained properly, so too will your marriage, running smoothly with few problems.  So, take care of your marriage by keeping romance alive.  Spend each day thinking of little ways to make your spouse feel loved.  Doing so will become a habit.  Every so often, though, make sure you do something really special that will be appreciated and give you an extra boost in the romance department.
