How to Be a Happy Divorcee

Women who have been through a divorce often face challenges when dealing with getting back into their every day lives. If you have been recently divorced, you are likely already familiar with some of the divorcee issues that are common after a break up.

This is especially true if it was a messy divorce or there were children involved. One of the ways you can handle the unique challenges on how to be a happy divorcee, is to be aware of what issues might occur and to deal with them head on in a very practical manner. After awhile, they will seem more manageable and you won’t feel like you are no longer out of control.

After a divorce there are certain practical matters that must be taken care of. One of the more common divorcee issues includes financial problems. If you are used to having another person’s income to help you out with housing expenses, food and entertainment, the sudden lack of the additional income can be frightening. But, in order to cope with these common divorcee issues, you must sit down and map out a plan. Create a budget for your monthly household expenses and determine how you can accommodate each one. You may need to sacrifice a few things or you may need to change your lifestyle a bit. It may even be necessary to downsize your living arrangements in order to better afford the daily living expenses necessary.

Another of the common divorcee issues deals with children. If you had children together during the divorce, you not only have to deal with the loss from your marriage but you will also have to regularly see your ex which can prolong the grieving process. When your ex is in your life to such an extent, it can be difficult to move on. However, the best way to cope with these divorcee issues is to remain positive in front of the kids and only deal with the ex to the extent necessary to discuss the children. Eventually you will feel better and may have a more pleasant, friendly relationship. Until then, though, be civil but don’t get too close.

Dating after a divorce poses some unique issues on how to be a happy divorcee, that can get even more complicated when children are involved. The best divorce advice is to take it slow and make sure you are completely healed from the divorce before getting back out into the dating scene again. Make sure you do not bring a bevy of men home in front of the kids but have private time while you get to know the person you are dating. When it becomes more serious, then you can think about gradually introducing your new love interest to the kids.
