When you see someone across a crowded room and you lock eyes and feel an instant attraction, is that love or lust? Is there such a thing as love at first sight? The debate on whether or not love at first sight exists has been going on for years and there is still no definitive answer. Those who claim to feel love at first sight will tell you that it is definitely possible. The people who doubt love at first sight will tell you there may be attraction at first sight but not real love.
There are reported cases, many of them in fact, of people claiming love at first sight who have gone on to get married and stay together for the rest of their lives. For those people, love at first sight is a very real and there is no doubt that it exists. They knew from the beginning that they were attracted to one another and wanted to have an intimate relationship from the beginning. The fact that it lasted for so long seems to indicate that love at first sight does exist.
However, out of everyone who has an instant attraction, how many stay together for long? Likely not many people do that. Even if you think it is love at first sight, the only way to really tell is if the relationship is successful and you stay together. Only time will tell if love at first sight exists in those cases. Most people, though, do not believe love at first sight exists. For them, what passes for love at first sight is actually just sudden attraction. It may or may not last but it is not instant love.
Some people believe that love at first sight exists but only under certain circumstances. They believe the chemical make up in your brain might just be susceptible to love at first sight if the right conditions are there for it. Others think love at first sight is just fate telling you who they need to be with for the rest of their lives.
Regardless of whether or not you personally believe in love at first sight it is indisputable that some people do. Some people who claim love at first sight have had successful, long term relationships. Of course, there are just as many if not more who thought they experienced love at first sight but then after some time decided it may not have been love at all.
