If you want to do something special for the person you are with, look to the classics. Writing love letters is something that used to be much more common than it is now but it is always romantic and never goes out of style. If writing love letters makes you nervous, though, because you do not feel you are creative or a good writer, there are some tips that can help you compose the perfect letter that will be sure to entice your lover. When you write love letters, you can present it to your loved one or you can slip it into his coat pocket or in her purse to find as a wonderful surprise.
Write love letters on elegant stationary in your best handwriting. It helps if you set the mood before writing. Have a glass of wine, put on some mood music and light some candles before starting. Make sure you are free from distractions so you can concentrate on writing love letters without having to answer the phone or deal with the kids. Start out by dating the love letters using the full month, date and year then open the letter with something romantic like “my one true love” or “dearest Susan”. It may help to write the letter on plain paper in case you make mistakes or flounder. When you get it perfect you can transfer the love letters onto the good stationary.
Begin love letters by telling the one you love why you feel compelled to write. Make it romantic and sultry. For example, “I have wanted to express to you how much you mean to me and how much I value our time together.” Continue writing love letters with how much you adore the person, how you think of them, what you remember most about them and what you appreciate about them. List some of their special qualities you particularly like. Remember that this is a love letter not an erotic letter so be respectful and a bit formal and flowery. Do not be too overtly sexual when writing love letters.
Keep love letters positive but not joking or humorous. You can even add some poetry if you feel it is appropriate such as “Shakespeare said it better than I when he wrote” and then insert the phrase or poem. End with a romantic closing such as “my love is eternally yours” and sign your name. Put it into an envelope and add a scent or rose petals. The one who receives the love letters will appreciate the effort put into it and it will definitely spice up your relationship.
