I have been in about 10 weddings. I am in one this summer that is truly making me scratch my head. There are four ladies in the party - two live locally and two live about a days drive away. The bachelorette has been planned in a very expensive location, which is closer to the two ladies who live out of town. The other bridesmaid who lives locally is not going on the bachelorette weekend. I am also getting married this summer, so I asked the others if we could schedule the shower, and now I found out that one of the out of towners can't attend. The other local bridesmaid hasn't responded to emails and I am worried the whole shower will fall on me and the MOH. (She is great but also lives out of town.) Could you please tell me what duties bridesmaids have and if there are any tips on how to get the others more involved?

These are the traditional expenses for bridesmaids:
The bridal shower
The bachelorette party
Their own attire and accessories that are worn during the ceremony
Each equally contribute to a gift for the bride from her bridal party
Their own individual wedding gifts to the couple on the day of the ceremony
You may need to remind all of them that accepting the role also accepts the responsibility.

Also, please remember that all prewedding parties are optional. So, none of you are responsible for hosting them.
